The polarizing beamsplitter cube is composed of a pair of right angle prisms . The inclined surface of one of the prisms is coated with a special multi-layer dielectric coating. When non polarized light appears in a vertical direction through two adjacent surfaces and is orthogonal to each other, the transmitted beam is p-polarized, while the reflected beam is s-polarized. When linearly polarized light is incident, it is also divided into two beams in a certain proportion based on the direction of the electric field vector of the incident beam. These polarization splitters can be used for many common laser wavelengths and broadband ranges.
Polarizing Cube Beamsplitters split randomly polarized beams into two orthogonal, linearly, polarized components-S-polarized light is reflected at a 90deg. Angle while P-polarized light is transmitted. Each beamsplitter consists of a pair of precision high tolerance right angle prisms cemented together with a dielectric coating on the hypotenuse of one of prisms.
